During the interview you should be prepared to answer questions regarding yourself, the position your are interviewing for, your current position/employer, your previous positions/employers, and salary requirements.

Below are sample questions that you may be asked during your next interview:

About yourself:

· Tell me about yourself?
· How do you stay professionally current?
· Where do you see yourself five years from now?
· If you could have your choice of any job, what would it be and why?
· What are your short- and long-range goals and how do you expect to achieve them?
· Do you plan to further your education? If so, to what extent?
· What have you done to improve yourself during the past year?
· What else do you think I should know about you?
· What outside activities are most significant to your personal development?
· How do your spouse and children feel about the change of position and the relocation of your home?

About the new company/position:

· Why are you attracted to our opportunity?
· What interests you about our company or firm?
· What do you think will be the toughest aspects of the job if you were to accept the position?
· What will be the most enjoyable aspects - the least enjoyable?
· What would your greatest contribution be or what aspects of the job or the company do you think you would be able to make your greatest contribution to?
· Do you have any noteworthy outside interests?
· Why do you want to work here?
· If you feel you have any weaknesses with regard to this job, what would they be?
· What do you expect to experience in this job that you did not experience in your past jobs?
· How do you feel about evening work? Weekend work?
· Are you considering other positions at this time?
· How does this job compare with them?
· How do you feel about relocating?

Salary Information:

· What are your financial needs?
· What is the minimum salary you will accept?
· What is your salary history?
· How many of your salary increases have been the result of promotions or merit?
· What is your most recent salary history? When is your next salary review?
· Have you ever accepted a counteroffer? If so, why?

Work Ethics:

· How do you determine what constitutes top priority?
· How often have you missed a deadline? What caused it?
· Name an important contribution you have made in your job?
· How do you define doing a good job? Under what conditions do you work best?
· Describe a high pressure situation you have been in.
· Name a difficult decisions you had to make? Why was it difficult.
· What are your strong points? What are your weak ones?
· What criteria would you use in measuring your own performance over the next year and the following years; like your performance measured by; use in measuring your superior's performance and your relationship to him?
· What does success mean to you? How do you measure it?
· What motivates you?
· Do you prefer working independently or as part of a team?
· What is your leadership style?

About your current job:

· How did you get your job at _____________?
· What were your major responsibilities?
· What did you like best about your job? The Least?
· What is your next logical career opportunity with your present employer?
· If you were to stay with your present employer, what would your career track be over the next two or three years?
· What has given you a feeling of achievement?
· How would you describe your most recent job performance evaluation?


Previous Employment:

· When did you leave your last job and why?
· What did you like most and least about your last job?
· At your last job, how much of the work did you perform independently?
· At your last job, how much was performed by a team?
· What are some of the problems you have encountered in your past jobs?
· How did you solve the problems?
· Have you ever offered suggestions to management? How did management respond?
· What prevented you from advancing in your former positions?
